Alès: the Cinéplanet emptied of its spectators since the establishment of the health pass

Tuesday evening, it received more than 500 spectators. Wednesday is not the same story. The Cinéplanet, place des Martyrs in Alès, had only about twenty people in the room for the Kaamelott session, at 1:20 p.m. "It was entirely predictable, laments the manager of the multiplex, Philippe Mercier. We have everything put in place, we hired a special agent to check the passes. We will have costs that will increase and revenues that will decrease… We blame the blow.

And, already, the first recalcitrants are making themselves known. "There is a lady who came just to tell us that what we are doing is not normal. She had no intention of going to the cinema," he says.

In the afternoon, a few arrivals, including several people who are not aware of the entry into force of the health pass in cinemas. “Ah, is it today?” asks a young man who turns around to go for a test, when another woman, fully vaccinated, shows up. "Ah, I didn't know we were starting to ask for it from today," she says, fumbling to open her QR code on her phone. “Do you have any places left for Kaamelott?” asks a couple. The answer is quickly found: "Ah yes, unfortunately!", sighs Philippe Mercier, who hopes that the spectators will be more numerous in the future.

"That cuts the momentum"

He monitors the progress of this first day alongside the new recruit who must check passes and identity cards. "Tuesday evening, we were almost full, but there, it cuts the momentum," adds the manager. The mask remains compulsory in the rooms, but "there is no gauge. As a multiplex, we cannot afford to limit to 50 people", and, therefore, not to be forced to have a health pass.

On Facebook, the cinema advises to come about thirty minutes before the start of the screening to avoid being late with all the necessary verification process. But, for the moment, no jostling…
