We learned this week that Apple could announce, at the end of next year, his first virtual reality headset.According to information from Bloomberg, the manufacturer would rely on three uses to promote his product: communication, video games and media consultation.

Never stingy in information on the possible future baby of the apple brand, Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst at TF International Securities, delivered new elements on the VR headset to support her previous statements.

A particularly light virtual reality headset

According to his information, identified by the 9TO5MAC site, the first Apple virtual reality headset would have a rather classic design with a weight between 300 and 400 grams. For comparison, the Oculus Quest 2 weighs 503 grams, the HTC Vive Pro 2 displays 850 grams on the scale and the PlayStation VR approximately 600 grams.Apple's virtual reality headset would be among the lightest on the market.Nevertheless, the American manufacturer would not intend to stop there.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a second version would already be in the manufacturer's boxes, even before the first. This second iteration would further improve the weight of the device to make it "significantly lighter".He would also benefit from "updated industrial design, a new battery system and a more powerful processor".This would strengthen his information from spring where he mentioned a helmet of 150 grams only.

Le casque de VR d’Apple aurait un argument de taille face à ses concurrents

If we still do not know the characteristics of autonomy and performance of the first helmet, difficult to get an idea of what can be expected of his already successor.Nevertheless, industrial design is reminiscent of the new design language of Apple products in recent years. The apple firm has indeed revised that of its iMac, iPhone and iPad to integrate more angular edges with flat slices. This is what we could find on the second version of the manufacturer's VR helmet.

Strong ambitions for the second version

Apple's first virtual reality headset, expected for next year, should take on a chip as powerful as the Apple M1 which already equips some of its computers, as well as high definition tiles for each eye.The helmet would not only benefit from virtual reality, but also augmented reality thanks to an integrated camera system to move in its environment.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the price would be resolutely high-end with a price expected at more than $ 1,000.Nevertheless, this would not limit Apple's ambitions which would count between 2.5 and 3.5 million the first year.It is however with the second model that the firm hopes to make it a mass product with 10 million units expected.

According to information from the Bloomberg agency, Apple plans to launch the production of its first VR helmet in next year before marketing in the last quarter 2022.Ming-Chi Kuo Table on a launch at the beginning of 2023 before the second model was marketed in 2024.
