Covid-19. In the United States, a woman locks her son in her trunk so as not to be contaminated

An American from Texas who locked her 13-year-old son in the trunk of her car to get him tested for covid-19 is the subject of criminal charges but also of testimonies of support that have come forward Monday.

Sarah Beam went to Pridgeon Stadium in Houston on Monday, January 3, where you can get tested without getting out of your car.

To the site manager, she explained that she was coming for her son, positive for Covid-19 during a previous test, but that she preferred to put him in the trunk of her car so as not to risk being contaminated in turn .

The site employee asked to see the teenager and then clarified that no tests would be carried out until he was in the back seat of the vehicle.

The police, warned by the employee and using video surveillance cameras, arrested this teacher last Saturday on suspicion of endangering a child. She was only released the next day on $1,500 bail.

On cardboard signs hung in its windows, one could also read: "We support you" and "We don't judge a book by its cover".

This woman of just over 40 years old was until recently a teacher at a Houston high school but is currently “ on administrative leave ”.
