Covid: parents opposed to wearing a mask challenge the rector of the Occitanie region

About 500 parents of students from Occitanie challenge the rector on wearing a mask at school. They have sent a series of questions via an usher and are demanding answers.

A bailiff presented himself to the rectorate of the Occitanie Academy on January 6, 2022. He carried a document signed by 513 parents and teachers. A list of questions addressed to the rector.

"We mistreat our children"

"We want to summon the rector to answer our questions", explains Claire, coordinator of this action in Occitania. "Our children have been under strict health constraints for more than a year. She applies measures without justifying them".

The 24 questions in this document concern the wearing of masks for children but also vaccination. The signatories are clearly against it. So we can read:

-"Since April 2020, all observational studies and medical data have found that Covid-19 is not a pediatric disease and that children and adolescents aged 0 to 19 are not sick (except mild cases ) nor transmitters of the coronavirus. On what scientific basis is the ministry and your rectorate based to impose a face mask on children?

-"Knowing that wearing a face mask for several hours a day reduces oxygen saturation, increases the proportion of carbon dioxide in the blood and forces you to inhale formaldehyde and toluene, have you put in place, since September 2020, measures to take stock of the impact of the physiological consequences of this obligation on children?

-"Can you certify that the BioNTech/Pfizer and Moderna pharmaceutical products are indeed "vaccines" in the medical and legal sense of the term and that they can therefore be presented as such to parents of students?"

-"Can you certify that the two aforementioned products are no longer in experimental phase 3 and that the students who have been injected with these products, in a school establishment or via a school outing in a vaccination center, are not de facto the object of large-scale human experimentation?"

“We mistreat our children,” says Claire. "Supervisors arrive in high school classes to ask who is not vaccinated. There is pressure. Children have hours of glue because they have the mask under their noses. Teachers tell them 'it's because of you people are dying'. We are blaming our children".

Covid: Parents opposed to wearing the mask challenge the rector of the Occitanie region

Nora, a mother of three in the Toulouse region, is one of the parents who signed this summons. "The idea is to drop the masks of our children, that we stop testing them at all costs, that we let them live their youth!", She said.

"I took my last child out of school, who is 9 years old because it was out of the question for him to wear a mask. We teach him at home. In the school of my second daughter who is in fifth grade, they accepted that she wear a visor but for my big one who is 15 years old, the answer was negative. No visor. We force her to put on the mask even though she has a medical certificate, she is bleeding from the nose regularly. The director told me that if ever we allowed her to wear a visor, it would be the door open for all the other students sicker than her, "says the mother of the family indignantly. "In my daughter's high school, a young person committed suicide," she continues. "It's maddening the psychological state of adolescents."

An action in progress with the European Court of Human Rights

The bailiff who presented himself to the rector was unable to deliver the document to the rector in person, he handed it over to the legal department which, the parents were told, will pass it on to the Ministry of National Education.

According to the coordinator of the movement in Occitania, the idea is also to send a signal to "show that we can act quickly and en masse", she says. 513 signatory parents and teachers in all 13 departments of the region is however quite low, but she explains that it was necessary to organize in 15 days during the end of year celebrations. And then, she stresses that all the regions are connected. Regarding the proportion of parents and teachers who signed, no calculation has been made, but she recognizes that the teachers are few in number because they would be afraid, according to her, of rebelling against their hierarchy.

Finally, the signatory parents support an action led by a collective in Sarthe with the European Court of Human Rights. A petition against the French government, accused of serious violations of the rights of the child.

The main federation of parents of students supports the wearing of masks

Contacted by France 3, the president of the FCPE Occitanie, the main federation of parents of students does not support this initiative. Beatriz Malleville explains that the FCPE in this period of Covid crisis wishes to keep the school open in the most secure way for all students.

"We are not doctors, we refer to the medical opinion of the High Council for Public Health, says Beatriz Malleville. School is a place of life and community and in a system where we try to protect the greatest number, it is necessary to follow its instructions. There are possible contaminations and risks of clusters at school, the virus circulates between students, teachers and parents. Therefore, barrier gestures must be respected. is part of it and that's what seems to work better. Besides, diseases like the flu and gastro have apparently been reduced thanks to the mask", she underlines. The president of the FCPE explains: "the freedom not to wear the mask is thwarted by the fact of protecting others. We must all be careful of each other".

An exceptional situation according to the rector of the Toulouse academy

The rector of the Toulouse academy recognizes that it is not comfortable to wear a mask. "It's a necessity," said Mostafa Fourar. “We are in a country with laws and rules. Wearing a mask is compulsory and so is the schooling of children. It is an exceptional situation. Everyone must do their part to work in serenity and not put even more pressure on our teachers, they have enough pressure as it is."

It was a decree of October 29, 2020 which made it compulsory for the mask to be worn from the age of 6 in schools. A measure put in place according to the situation. With the new wave of Covid that has been raging since the end of 2021, the government has extended the protection rules. Wearing a mask has again been compulsory for all students from elementary school since November 15.
