Going out safe during the COVID-19 |Unicef

Adults and children love outdoor activities. The COVVI-19 pandemic is not over and parents must know what to do to enjoy an outdoor moment while protecting the health of their family. So here is a quick memory aid to find out how to play outside in complete safety!

Can COVID-19 spread outside?

Unfortunately yes.COVID-19 can spread wherever you are in close contact with an infected person.Do not forget that the virus spreads through the respiratory droplets that an infected person expels when he coughs, sneezes, speaks or sings. These then penetrate into the mouths, nose or eyes of people nearby.Air transmission (or by aerosols) at short distance is therefore possible, in particular in the unveiled and very frequented enclosed spaces. The infection is also possible if you carry your hand to your mouth, nose or eyes after touching surfaces contaminated by the virus.

According to these elements and our knowledge of this virus, the risk of transmission is considered to be significantly lower outside than in the interior spaces.Nevertheless, the precautions that we can take are just as important. It is necessary to maintain at least a meter distance between people, wear a fabric mask near the others, wash your hands frequently and monitor the appearance of any symptoms of COVID-19 before going out.

I was vaccinated.Should I continue to be careful?

To be vaccinated is already an important step to protect yourself and the others. However, no COVVI-19 vaccine offers total protection, which is why it is important to know the risks associated with each activity for you and your family and to decide with full knowledge of.

Follow the instructions of local authorities and keep in mind about incidence and vaccination rates where you are.Where the incidence of the virus is low and the rate of vaccination high, fully vaccinated people are less exposed, but non -vaccinated people, including children, are still likely to be contaminated.

In many cases, it is therefore recommended to respect barrier gestures such as physical distancing, wearing the mask, frequent washing of hands and verification of possible symptoms before leaving home.

When can group activities for children resume safely?

The risk degree of group activities depends closely on where you live.Start by checking if local authorities have enacted special instructions. It is recommended to take more precautions in areas where incidence rates are high and low vaccination rates.

In general, it is safer to organize the afternoon games outside if possible, because the COVVI-19 virus is less easily transmitted outdoors. It is also easier to manage physical distance for you and your children. If you allow your children to play outside with friends, remember to limit the number of children present and to recall the rules of physical distancing.Make sure your children wash your hands before going inside.
