How to reproduce the emblematic makeup of Dior's Cruise 2022 parade?

Peter Philips, Director of creation and image of makeup Dior, creates for Maria Grazia Chiuri's Cruise 2022 collection, unveiled in Athens, a makeup where the eye is the star. How to reproduce this emblematic makeup where the eyes are sublimated by small pearls?

Maison Dior has chosen Athens, an exceptional destination-the cradle of Western civilisation and European arts-to present its collection Cruise 2022. In the heart of the city dedicated to Athena, Maria Grazia Chiuri reinvents her genealogy and diverts its codes, like the peplum.

In this way, she draws up her personal map of Greece, through the personalities and images that nourish her poetics and references, according to the works of Giorgio de Chirico or even vases adorned with scenes of struggle by Alexander Iolas. These giant silhouettes are placed in close-up on artist Pietro Ruffo's sketches, or camouflaged in a selection of sportswear pieces.

A series of white costumes-jackets and trousers-evoking those worn by Marlène Dietrich, structures a lexicon between classicism and freedom (s): the oversized pothole is Hellenized, the caning reveals new abstractions, the star unfolds.

For this beautiful look as elegant as it is original, the look imagined by Peter Philips mixes the graphic design of the traditional Greek eye, or matiasma, with a punk insolence.

The eyes

Peter Philips explains: "I start by making up the upper eyelid with the nude, sand and gold tones of the 5-colour Cruise 2022 couture palette created exclusively for this collection. Then, I apply pearl pearls at the edge of the eyelashes either by completely surrounding the eye, by placing a single pearl on the internal and external corners, or by leaving only one pearl nestled in the inner corner of the eye. Finally, I apply to the tips of the upper eyelashes a very light layer of Iconic Overcurl waterproof 091 Black / Black Diorshow and discipline the eyebrows with the Diorshow Kabuki brow Styler for a very natural effect. "
