Lipstick alert?

Toxic metals have been detected in the lipstick.Lead, cadmium, chrome or aluminum have been found in 24 products (all brands combined) on 32 bought in the trade reveals a recent American study published in the journal "Environmental Health Perspectives".Heavy metals that can be toxic to the body when they are absorbed in high doses. And this is precisely the question of the quantity that is problematic.According to researchers from the University of Berkeley, California, a person who uses lipsticks would ingest on average nearly 24 milligrams of product per day.On the other hand, the quantity increases considerably for women making several touch -ups during the day, thus going to 87 milligrams of product per day.

Caution with children?

The main author of the study, Katharine Hammond, believes that the levels of metals found, although low, could have a long -term effect.A repeated and massive use of this makeup would cause dangerous exposure to chrome, a carcinogenic substance for the body. The American researcher also worries about children who prick their mother's makeup. For them, exposure to these products can be dangerous, whatever the dose.In 2011, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) had already conducted research on the subject, detector of lead in all the lipsticks present on the market in 2010, or 400 in total.
