Lysandre Nadeau opens up about how her alcoholism affected her life

If you follow Lysandre Nadeau on social networks, you know that she has been sober for a little over a year. The young woman, always transparent with her community, did not hide this personal journey from the public.

Recently, the influencer collaborated with non-alcoholic wine brand St Regis to finally be able to speak honestly about her story.

In a touching video produced in collaboration with Urbania, Lysandre begins by addressing the 14-year-old version of herself.

“Yes, you are about to develop a good addiction to alcohol for the next 10 years. But I promise you, you'll be fine."

Lysandre then recounts the first time she drank alcohol, at a friend's 15th birthday party. She explains that after this evening, she drank every weekend until she threw up.

"All your days will be organized around drinking, starting in Cégep, around 17," she said. “You are going to remember absolutely nothing of your parties for several years. You're going to wake up the next morning with bruises, sore lips, bumps in the face..."

Lysandre even says that the police once had to take her home after finding her lying on the ground outside.

Lysandre Nadeau confides in how his alcoholism affected his life

"You're going to have to call your friends and family all the time to justify things you've done and said that you didn't mean..."

Then, Lysandre confides in one of the turning points of her life, the moment when she was hospitalized: “You are going to develop infectious arthritis. You're going to be flown to Montreal with a catheter in your heart. You're going to keep getting drunk, drinking 26 ounces of vodka over and over every night, all by yourself."

Finally, Lysander explains what was “bottom of the barrel” for her. “You are going to lose your best friend of 6 years, because of a story about alcohol.”

The young woman explains that the wave of denunciations that took place in the summer of 2020 made her realize that she no longer wanted to be the person who hurts others in drinking. It was on July 15, 2020 that she decided to stop drinking and, since then, she has made the switch to alcohol-free consumption.

Since then, she has realized that she loves to remember her evenings, to be more attentive to others and to no longer regret her actions.

“You will stop feeling like a bad person, you will realize that deep down no, you are a good person who has an addiction. This addiction is a daily struggle, but it will be worth it in criss."
