While various manufacturers like Samsung will soon deploy their overheads based on Android 12, Oppo is already starting to deploy Coloros 12 on some of its smartphones, such as the latest Find X3 Pro 5G.Oppo aims to provide users with an experience close to Android Stock, as well as rich features for the user interface that stimulate productivity and enrich the user experience.

An even more customizable design and AR Emoji

First, with Coloros 12, Oppo emphasizes his new "Infinite Design".The latter does not look like the Material You of Google, which will arrive with Android 12 on the Pixel.Indeed, it brings new acrylic icons, increased contrast and "distinctive colors".There is also an OMOJI feature that works similarly to the Ar Emoji function on certain Samsung smartphones. The latter allows users to create their personalized 3D avatar, which can imitate their facial expressions in real time.

Inspired by iOS 14, Coloros 12 also adds new widgets called “fast display cards”.They can be placed both on the left page and on the home screen with the rest of your applications.Oppo also introduces Free Floating Window, an advanced version of Flexdrop, a functionality introduced in Coloros 11. This allows windows to be resized and moved anywhere on the screen with actions such as tapping and shift.

We also find the new Always-On Display 2.0 function, an improved version that allows users to place their 3D animated Omoji directly on their locking screen.

A new Smart Sidebar and the connection from a computer

Oppo decided to reshuffle the Smart Sidebar. The new version incorporates new tools, such as a price comparison when you make online purchases, or even an online song charging feature when you use the Music Player application. We also discover the Shared Atlas 2.0 functionality, which allows you to share several images both with other smartphones. This function is similar to the “link sharing” on one UI at Samsung.

Thanks to Coloros 12, users will also be able to discover PC Connect, a feature allowing access to your smartphone from a computer.Oppo promises a transfer rate of 45 Mb/s, which means that you can send around 500 photos of your phone to your PC in just one minute.

An ever more fluid interface

Unsurprisingly, Coloros also brings new animations, which aim to make smartphones even more fluid. For this, Oppo introduces the quantum animation engine 3.0 into its new operating system. In addition to the 300+ improved animations, Coloros 12 now attaches a virtual mass to interface objects, which makes them move much more realistic.

Oppo also hopes that thanks to the optimizations brought to its overlay, your phone is always fast and fluid 2 or 3 years after its purchase.Oppo says that it occupies 30 % less storage space than Coloros 11, that it consumes 20 % less energy.Consequently, the new overlay could also lead to a 12 % increase in battery life.

More inclusiveness

One of the main priorities of OPPO for Coloros 12 is to make the design more inclusive for different regions and languages. This means adjusting the spacing and design so that when the titles of the apps appear in languages that have longer words, these appear correctly.

The presentation of information from the various application interfaces has been reorganized to make them more intuitive and easier to use.In addition, it has been made more adaptive in order to be able to adapt to all sizes and telephone ladders, so we imagine that the first folding Oppo smartphone should arrive shortly.

Android 12 safety features

Oppo will take advantage of Coloros to add the safety features of Android 12. This means that you will find the dashboard of privacy, but also microphone and camera indicators to allow you to know when an application uses them. There are also interesting additional functions such as the “Smart anti-peepeing” function, which makes it possible to hide the notifications if your front camera detects someone else's face.

The update also includes new accessibility features added to Android 12. Finally, Oppo should now use Google applications rather than its own, and should therefore delete its own messages, telephone or contacts.

What are the smartphones compatible with the update?

Oppo has already communicated the calendar to deploy its Coloros 12 update based on Android 12, and here are the smartphones that will receive it:
