On the program of this last episode of WWE SmackDown before Royal Rumble, a face-to-face between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins while Naomi faces Sonya Deville.

All against Charlotte Flair

Last episode before WWE Royal Rumble 2022, we must raise the hype counter to the maximum. It is Charlotte Flair who opens this episode to talk of course about the Rumble match in which she will participate. She promises to win and change the game this Saturday night, no more relying on fate, she will choose her WrestleMania opponent.

Then enters Shayna Baszler, visibly facing now, who also intends to win the match and announces to Flair that if she finds herself facing her, she will break her in two. Follow behind several other wrestlers who come to explain that they too can win: Aliyah and her superb “Aliyah 3:17” t-shirt, Natalya, Shotzi Blackheart, of whom we no longer had too much news, but above all… Sasha Banks.

The Bo$$ is back and ready to participate in the Rumble Match — too bad we didn't save the surprise for this Saturday night. She gets into the ring to hit Charlotte Flair and a general fight breaks out.

A classic WWE segment before a multi-person match. The return of Sasha Banks is still quite a game-changer for the Rumble.

Ridge Holland is back in action after breaking his nose a few weeks ago. Sheamus gives him a protective face mask, like his own.

Sheamus and Ridge Holland beat Ricochet and Cesaro by pinfall with Holland's Northern Gritt on Cesaro, preceded by a headbutt with the mask. Good match by team, the public was thoroughly.

Naomi gets revenge on Sonya Deville

Naomi faces Sonya Deville in the next match. Surprisingly no tricks from Deville, the match will take place under completely normal conditions. It is hard to believe.

WWE SmackDown Results January 28

Naomi defeated Sonya Deville by pinfall with the split-legged moonsault. Good match, we are happy to see Deville in a real match and Naomi is very over. The audience appreciated.

Naomi celebrates her victory and says she is happy to have finally finished with Sonya Deville, she leaves annoyed but comes back with her jacket to become GM again and announces to Naomi that she too will enter the Royal Rumble tomorrow, because it lacked heat.

Behind the scenes during an interview the Usos make fun of the Viking Raiders, but the latter pull out axes to threaten them. It's not very safe behind the scenes at WWE.

Sami Zayn the podcaster

Sami Zayn invites us for a new InZayn, except that this time the decor has changed: his show is now a “live podcast”. That's great che-bran. Jinder Mahal is his guest, Shanky is also present. Zayn says he deserves a shot at the Intercontinental title and doesn't let Mahal contradict him.

He also talks about Johnny Knoxville, mocks Mahal and Shanky saying they've probably never seen Jackass, but Mahal reassures him that Jackass also walked in India. Meanwhile the public calls Knoxville to come, but we won't see him tonight.

Rick Boogs and Shinsuke Nakamura interrupt the segment, they face Jinder Mahal and Shanky in the next match.

Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs defeated Jinder Mahal and Shanky by pinfall with the Boogs Cruise on Shanky. A short match, it probably could have been longer and just as good.

During an interview with New Day, we learn that Big E is back on SmackDown. It feels like his reign as WWE Champion is already long gone and forgotten, like Kofi Kingston's.

The New Days beat Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss by pinfall with Kingston's Midnight Hour on Moss.

Roman Reigns in doubt

We end this evening with the face-to-face between Roman Reigns and his Royal Rumble 2022 challenge Seth Rollins for the title of Universal champion. Like this Saturday evening, the champion enters alone. The Usos will not be permitted to be at ringside during the championship match.

Seth Rollins reflects on the intervention of Roman Reigns last week, the one that allowed Rollins (teaming with Kevin Owens) to obtain the absence of the Usos as required by the stipulation in the event of defeat of the latter . Rollins says he wanted him to step in, and Reigns admits he did it on purpose because he knew The Usos were going to lose and he wanted to save his family further shame.

Seth Rollins is hilarious, and continues his momentum by mocking Roman Reigns, reminding him of the humiliation when at WrestleMania 31 he beat him by cashing his Money In The Bank, or when he himself destroyed the Shield. Reigns will reply that he never forgave him — and yet they teamed up again in 2017 and quickly in 2019.

Roman Reigns doesn't respond, yet Rollins continues to insult him, calling him a joke, just like the rest of his family. It was the word too much: Reigns gets angry and pushes Rollins before attempting his Superman Punch… without success, Rollins avoids it and leaves the ring. Seth Rollins is always one step ahead of the champion.

It's on a furious and disturbed Roman Reigns that we end this last WWE SmackDown before Royal Rumble 2022, and it's a good episode. The opening segment was pretty classic from WWE, the matches were good even if few for two hours of show. The return of Sasha Banks and the segment that closes this evening hype up this Saturday's show a little more. We're ready for the Rumble.
